Ferrari 458 California 4.5L V8 Getrag Transmission 570 HP!
Ferrari 458 “California”
It’s not everyday that you get a call to do a Ferrari 458 “California” and this one was extremely special indeed with a host of extras on the interior!
This as you can imagine is not an everyday car as the customer uses his Maserati Quattroporte which has the same engine as this with a little bit more creature comforts inside. That aside the car does get used and we used the same strict procedures that we normally use on this one. A pre wash later alongside a wash with a well lubricated shampoo and we were ready for a good de-tar and iron removal. We then finished off the decontamination stages with a clay sponge and a spray detailer. We then rewashed the car and got to work polishing.
Feynlab F500 Medium Cut polish and a foam head was used to remove any swirling or scratches from the paintwork and was refined with Feynlab F1000 Final Cut to restore the gloriously beautiful Bianco Avus paint. There is a very subtle hint of pearl through the paint that is just so mesmerising when it catches your eye that couldn’t be seen before due to the swirling in the paint.
The pre coating stages are essential to how well the coating will bond and perform when installed and Feynlab has that area covered as well ! Feynlab Wash flushes out any oils or airborne contaminants that may have become embedded in the paintwork when polishing. We then follow that process up with Feynlab Prime which fills in any microscopic indentations that the polishing process could not remove and leaves down an excellent “key” for the coating to adhere to The Original Ceramic was used on all of the paintwork and the side windows and Feynlab Wheel and Caliper was used to protect the wheels.
All of this was cured using an I.R. lamp to ensure that coating has crosslinked between the coating and the paint.
The interior although quite small was hoovered and cleaned and the interior fabric surfaces were coated with Feynlab Textile fabric protectant to help to minimise staining when it gets wet from getting in and out.
With only a handful of these in the country it was a great car to work on and one that I enjoyed working on. Thanks to guys in Dream Cars and here’s to many more !
